We have had the Electronic Snap Circuits by Elenco on our wish list for sometime now. When CSN stores graciously gave me a gift code to use in one of their 200 stores, I knew this would be a fun product to choose.
About Electronic Snap Circuits
Snap Circuits are color coded circuit components that snap together easily to make a sort of working electronic devices.
The kit comes with over 60 pieces to build 305 do it yourself projects.
The kit also comes with two easy to follow instruction manuals

Additional information
- There are no tools required. All the circuits snap easily into place
- You do want to allow two AA batteries
- Some of the projects require additional household items to finish the project
- Projects start out simple and becoming progressively more ambitious to get with your child
- Recommended age 8 and up
Our Thoughts
Snap circuits was a huge hit with the boys! Within minutes of possibility the box they were easily creating the first project.
The instruction manuals are really comfortable to say with clear, concise step by step written instructions. In addition there are color diagrams for each task that are clearly tagged with the circuit needed for each project.
One of the first projects they made was the Lamp & Fan in Parallel. When you go on the flip the fan works and the lamp turns on. It hard to see but there is a fall on the other side of the fan.

The projects start out simple like the ones shown above to more modern projects such as a high pitched bell, noise-activated burglar alarm, motion detector and making your own water alarm.
Water Alarm
For this design we needed salt, a cup and water. As the urine was added to the cup the alarm would go and the red light came on, alerting us to the front of water. As salt was added the tone of the alarm changed and the light got brighter.
I really like snap circuits and I am glad we chose this to review. Another great feature is that this kit grows with your child. There are additional expansion kits available.
If you make a child interested in electronics this would be an ideal kit. It is fun and challenging!
